N° 1
Granny vs. Reef
If your bows twist sideways and sag by noon, your base knot is a granny.
Cross right-over-left, then left-over-right: the reef lies flat, sits square,
and holds noticeably truer. The entire temperament of a bow is decided
in its first crossing.
N° 2
Tension is the craft
Equal ears, even cinches, a crossing pulled snug before anything loops.
Ninety percent of a bad knot is simply a lazy second pull. Slow down
for the final gesture — the knot remembers it all day.
N° 3
Untie with intent
To release a bow, pull the ear — never the tail. The tail feeds the lace
back through the knot and tightens it further. And when a knot truly
dies, a surgeon's finish is the kindest way to say goodbye.
